Investors in People
We are pleased to announce that in November we received confirmation that we had achieved Investor in People status. We strongly believe that the involvement and ongoing development of our staff is key to our success and we are extremely pleased to see that the Assessor for Investors in People agreed with us. He was very impressed not only with the commitment of the staff to the organisation and their desire to see it grow and develop, but also the training and development opportunities provided to all our staff to ensure that we continue to provide the best service that we can.
Dangers of the Sun
Please everyone remember that although we may not live in a tropical climate the sun can cause serious burns, especially on children. Fiona was a Senior Dermatology nurse and wants everyone to remember to use sunscreen and/or sun hats if they are needed, especially on babies and children. Also the Gents out there please remember if your hair is not as thick as it use to be, cover your scalp!
Clinical Courses
Most of our clinical courses are service user specific and we adapt the courses around the needs of the client and staff involved.
They are theoretical courses and competency would still need to be assessed within the workplace by a competent and suitably qualified person.

Bladder washouts
Bowel care

TLC staff support a number of charities? We encourage all of our staff to get involved in some way with a local Charity and are allowed time during work to provide hands on support where and when possible.
Sharon, TLC’s Office Manager is a volunteer with Volunteer Reading Help (VRH) a national charity that provides literacy support for children aged 6 -11. Volunteers are asked to give up 3 hours of their time (2 x 90 minute sessions) each week to go into a local primary school to help children on a one-to-one basis with their reading. The aim of the charity is to create a nation of confident children, literate for life.
The West Pennine Branch of VRH is in its 22nd year of supporting children across Wigan, Bolton, Bury, Blackburn, Rochdale and Chorley, and has a team of 120 reading helpers working in 85 schools, offering much needed support to over 300 children. But, there are still many, many more children in all areas in need of additional help, especially those children who are in public care and VRH is always glad to welcome new volunteers.
If you think you can help, please call Emma Mitson Or Eileen Edwards on 01204 532421. Alternatively, visit their website at http://www.vrh.org.uk
Have you got a charity or project you would like to promote?
