Clinical and Complex Care Needs Training

Dealing with Challenging Behaviour

Description

This course is for any member of staff that may come in to contact with Service Users who exhibit behaviour that may be considered challenging or extreme nature. The course considers why people may behave in this way, what could be triggers to such behaviour and how we as carers can help, support and work with our service users to de-escalate and defuse potentially violent situations. It will also explore how staff’s own feelings and responses to behaviour can affect the situation, strategies for working with service users and if required the safe use of breakaway techniques.
