Protection of Vulnerable Adults (POVA)

Description

A study in 1992 by Ogg and Bennett showed that of the older people within the community 5% were suffering verbal abuse and 2% physical and financial abuse.

Abuse of any kind can have a profound effect on the person’s quality of life, recognising that they have rights to protection is therefore highly important.

The course also considers why abuse happens and what carers can do to stop it from carrying on.
