Health and Safety in the Workplace (RQF)

The Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace (RQF) has been designed for all employees working in different types of environments to help raise their awareness of health and safety in the workplace. During this half day course, Learners will develop a basic knowledge of health and safety issues such as: hazards and risks in the workplace, workplace conditions that can affect health and safety, and the requirements for workplace procedures. Learners will be assessed on their understanding using a 1 x 15 Multiple Choice Question Paper (Theory assessment) and continuous formative assessment conducted throughout the course.


Health & Safety in the Workplace (RQF)

Duration: 1 Day

The Level 2 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace (RQF) qualification is ideal for all employees to raise their awareness of health and safety in the workplace. During this 1 day course, Learners will develop a greater understanding of health and safety issues, including: health and safety laws, risk assessments and risk control hierarchy, identifying and controlling risks from common workplace hazards and more.

Please contact the TLC office for a more detailed overview of the contents for this course. In order to gain certification learners will have to complete one theory assessment (Multiple Choice Question Paper) in addition to continuous formative assessment conducted throughout the course.


Health & Safety in the Workplace (RQF)

Level 3 Award

Duration: 3 Days

The Level 3 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace (RQF) is ideal for those who are aspiring to, or are presently working at a supervisory or management level and wish to enhance their health and safety knowledge. Over the duration of 3 days, Learners will cover a range of health and safety topics, including: understanding the requirements for health, safety and welfare in the workplace, legal requirements, the benefits of using a health and safety system and understanding the risks and control methods for common workplace hazards, risk assessments, incident investigation and much more, please contact the TLC office for more detailed information. Learner are assessed at the end of the course via a 60 Multiple Choice Question Paper (Theory Assessment) in addition to continuous formative assessment conducted throughout the course.


Health & Safety in Health and Social Care (RQF)

Level 2 Award
Certification: Qualsafe Awards
Duration: 1 Day

The Level 2 Award in Health and Safety in Health and Social Care (RQF) is intended for those who work, or plan to work with patients or clients in a health and social care setting, such as: hospitals, care homes and day care centres. During this comprehensive course, Learners will cover a variety of topics relating to health and safety procedures in a health and social care setting.

Topics covered include: standards for health and safety welfare in a health and social care environment, risk assessments, importance of personal hygiene and more, please contact the TLC office for more information. At the end of the course Learner will sit a Multiple Choice Question Paper (Theory assessment) in addition to continuous formative assessment conducted throughout the course.


Principles of COSHH (RQF)

Level 2 Award

Duration: 3.5 hours

The QA Level 2 Award in Principles of COSHH (RQF) is ideal for all employees, and specifically those who wish to work in an environment with hazardous substances, such as: healthcare, manufacturing, cleaning, transport, utilities and office environments.

During this half day course, Learners will develop their understanding of the law relating to hazardous substances in the workplace and the precautions and procedures required to ensure hazardous substances are properly controlled, as well as learn how risk assessments contribute to the safe use of hazardous substances. There is a theory assessment consisting of a 15 Multiple Choice Question Paper in addition to continuous formative assessment conducted throughout the course.


Principles of Risk Assessment

Level 2 Award

Duration: 1 Day

This regulated and nationally recognised qualification provides Learners with a greater awareness of risks in the workplace and the measures that can be taken to control them. During this 1 day course, Learners will gain a basic introduction into the principles of risk assessment.

Topics covered include: main causes of work-related fatalities, basic processes for undertaking a risk assessment, key terms associated with risk assessments, and methods that can be used to prioritise risks. Assessment consists of a 30 Multiple Choice Question Paper in addition to continuous formative assessment conducted throughout the course.


Risk Assessment (RQF)

Level 3 Award

Duration: 2 Days

The Level 3 Award in Risk Assessment (RQF) is ideal for those who have a responsibility for conducting risk assessments in low risk environments, such as supervisors and site managers. This qualification is also suitable for those who significantly contribute to the risk assessment process, e.g. team leaders and technicians. During this 2 day course, Learners will develop their knowledge of risk assessment processes so that they can apply their knowledge and skills when completing risk assessments in the workplace. Topics covered include: the importance of health and safety in the workplace, the principles involved in risk assessment and the relationship between hazard and risk as part of an accident and ill health strategy.

As part of the assessment process Learners will be required to apply their knowledge of the risk assessment process by completing a risk assessments of the workplace in addition to 30 Multiple Choice Question Paper and continuous formative assessment conducted throughout the course.


Fire Safety Awareness

Level 1 Award

Duration: 3.5 hours

The QA Level 1 Award in Fire Safety Awareness (RQF) qualification is designed for those who want to increase their awareness of fire safety in the workplace. Over a half day period, Learners will learn basic fire safety principles, including: causes of fires in the workplace, basic fire safety duties and responsibilities, principles of fire risk control, safe use of portable fire-fighting equipment. At the end of the course learner will sit a short theory assessment (Multiple Choice Question Paper) in addition to continuous formative assessment conducted throughout the course.


Fire Safety

The Level 2 Award in Fire Safety (RQF) qualification has been designed for anyone who has a specific responsibility for fire safety in the workplace, such as designated fire wardens/fire marshals. During this 1 day course, Learners will develop their knowledge and skills in fire safety, including: how fires are caused, the risks associated with fire, principles of fire safety management at work, understanding the role of a fire warden and more. Principles of Manual Handling (RQF)

Level 2 Award

Duration: 3.5 hours

The Level 2 Award in Principles of Manual Handling (RQF) qualification has been specifically designed for all employees to help raise their awareness of the risks associated with unsafe manual handling practices. It is also ideal for those who might have to carry out manual handling as part of their job such as handling deliveries, parcels and boxes. Over a half day period, successful Learners will develop a greater awareness of manual handling, including: common manual handling injuries, the safe movement principles, theory of safe manual handling principles and manual handling equipment. Assessment is via a multiple choice question paper and continuous formative assessment conducted throughout the course.

Please note that this qualification does not include pratical sessions. Those requiring practical training should undertake the QA Level 2 Award in Safe Moving and Handling (RQF).


Safe Moving and Handling (RQF)

Level 2 Award

Duration: 1 Day

The QA Level 2 Award in Safe Moving and Handling (RQF) is a regulated and nationally recognised qualification designed for those who work, or intend to work, in a role that involves manual handling. It is ideal for those working in a variety of environments including warehouses and shops.

During this 1 day course, Learners will learn the key principles of manual handling and how to apply these to their workplace. They will also practise a wide range of techniques, ensuring that they leave the course confident and proficient in moving and handling. During the course learners will under 3 practical assessments, 1 theory assessment (Multiple Choice Question Paper) and continuous formative assessment.
